📖 Book Club Roundups
One of the nicest things about our neighborhood is how many people love to gather over a good book. And January in Pittsburgh is the season of lamps switched on at 4:30, mugs within arm’s reach, and finally opening that book you’ve been meaning to read. If you’re ready to make winter a little more social (and slightly more intellectual), here’s a roundup of book clubs happening around the South Hills.
Move Lebo Book Club: This neighborhood organization looking to make Mt. Lebanon’s streets safer recently started a book club! Their inaugural meeting is on Thursday 1/28 at 6:30pm at Back Alley Brewing where they’ll be diving into Walkable City by Jeff Speck.
Bethel Park Library Book Clubs: Bethel Park has five different books clubs for that works for everyone’s schedules! From Monday evening to Thursday morning, these book clubs meet on a monthly basis and are now welcoming new members.
Bridgeville Public Library: On Monday 2/2 at 6pm, the Bridgeville Public Library will have their monthly book club, discussing How to Age Disgracefully by Clare Pooley.
South Hills Garden of Books Book Club: Join this women’s only book club on Saturday 2/21 at 12pm for lunch, a gift bag drawing, and a discussion on A Time for Mercy by John Grisham.
Silent Book Club South Hills: Book lovers can connect without the pressure of assigned books, structured discussion, or expectations to speak at this book club’s next meeting on Thursday 2/12.
Mt. Lebanon Public Library Books Clubs: From Shakespeare specific to historical fiction, Mt. Lebanon’s library has not one but 10 book clubs on different topics for folks to choose from. There’s something for everybody!
☕ Sunset Hills Gets a Coffee Shop

A new coffee shop is almost opened in the neighborhood, and the excitement is quietly brewing. The kind of place that turns a quick walk into a stop-and-stay. This weekend will be The Baked Bean’s opening day! On Saturday 1/24 from 10am - 4pm, the co-owners of BREW3D and several local bakeries will be opening their doors in Sunset Hills of Mt. Lebanon. Don’t miss out on their signature pastry and coffee menus!
🧘 Mindfulness at Mediterra
We know and love Mediterra for their amazing bread loaves and elevated but welcoming environment (no kidding, our 2 year old often asks for “bread and butter at Mediterra”), but have you ever thought of meditating there? On Thursday 1/29 at 6pm, there will be a Mingling & Mindfulness event: a relaxed two-hour workshop designed to help you explore practical ways to bring mindfulness into your everyday life. This event will include a guided meditation, intention-setting, journaling, and gentle discussion, with the added bonus of light bites and beverages from Mediterra.
Enjoy multiple vendors showcasing their mindfulness and wellbeing offerings, including wellness IVs and a photographer to snag yourself a new headshot. What more could you want? Register here.
